Cast Lots for His Clothes - Wednesday Night

Foretold Lenten Sermon Series

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Sermon Summary:

Foretold -

“They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.” (Psalm 22:18 NIV)

Fulfilled -

“When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. ‘Let’s not tear it,’ they said to one another. ‘Let’s decide by lot who will get it.’  This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, ‘They divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.’ So this is what the soldiers did.”

What are the odds?

Mathematician Peter Stoner once calculated the odds of just 8 Old Testament prophecies being fulfilled in one person to be 1 in 1017.   1017 silver dollars would cover the state of Michigan five feet deep!  In the Foretold series, we’ll be looking at 15 Messianic prophecies all fulfilled in Christ.  Amazing confirmation that Jesus is in fact, the Son of God, who came to live and die for us and to defeat sin, Satan and death itself by His resurrection!
